Year of Change….Changing, Refocusing, Enjoyment… Looking back at Liz’s Fantabulous Year
WOW this has been a year of change for me. As Obama said in his campaign moto “Yes We Can!”, I can say “Yes I Did!” I really hadn’t given much thought as to how this year actually went for me. Ok…you want to hear it….here it go…….
Year of Change…New Job.
January marked the beginning of a new job/new chapter/new adventure for me. That job was to work in Afghanistan as a subcontractor for the military. This was not a new field of work for me, but anytime you have to pack up and move, especially overseas, means some serious change. My word for January would be “New”.
February was an indoctrination into my new living conditions. I hadn’t started blogging again get, but I knew I needed to find something to do with my personal time. Actually I had two post. I was like the little engine that cold. But first I needed to learn my new job. Of course I brought my years of experience and skills with me, but you still need to “Focus”. Which would be my word for February. The first time I saw the real Afghanistan.
March was the month of settling into new routines. I must stay that I love the people that I work with and I figured that out early on. They make me feel at home. Some I worked with before on other projects. So I have two words for March, “Renewed Friendships”
April was the month of really planning. I was planning my upcoming vacation which would be in June. I was planning on starting to workout again. I actually started in March, but I decided to really ramp it up a bit. I was planning on blogging more. It was all about planning. So the word for April …You guessed it “Planning”
May was a huge month for me. This was the month that I decide I would make an attempt to run in the Disney 1/2 marathon in January 2013. It was time to start running. Finally I was blogging regularly. My word for May, or should I say three words for May “Run Liz Run” – My Disney Signup Post
June was to be a pretty fun month. Why? It was vacation month. Yeah!
I got to see my family and I did a lot of fun thinks. I ran the NTC 5K in Clermont. I saw a broadway show. I finally took my running to the great outdoors and ran on the West Orange Trail. Really this was a vacation to rest, relax and enjoy my family. It was also a time to recharge my mind. Top word of for June “Rejuvinate” Oh and I moved my blog to WordPress.
July- Ahhh yes, my 100′s. That certainly marked a year of change. That was my first 10o miles on my way to the Disney 1/2 marthon. I was so proud of myself. I was able to jump back into my training after vacation and this marked a successful, so far, training. Words for July “Slow & Steady”
August – Run like all get out. My main focus was to get more miles in. I wanted to not only be ready for the Disney 1/2, but I wanted to keep moving Running made me happy & I was looking pretty good.
Words for August “Mirror Love”
September – I was very happy I switched to WordPress and I was ready for a self hosted site. At this point my creativity was not limited and my blog would undergo lots of changes. New logos to begin with. I created a media kit. I created a great blogging schedule for myself. September’s word “Creativity“.
- Mr Roper & Zombie Girl
- The Zombie Run didn’t really kill me. It was a hoot!
October – I signed up for the Zombie Run here in Kabul Green Village. I decided to run the 10K. I went on a campaign to get my fellow coworkers to run with me. It work and we had a ball. Derek & I also planned a great Halloween party. That was a lot of fun. This month was packed with entertainment. The word for November “Fun”
November – Bali was the ultimate vacation spot for me. I love to travel and this was a great choice. I relaxed, sight saw
, relaxed, made some friends, relaxed and took a ton of pictures. It was a vacation that I will never forget. The word for November is “Relaxed”
December – All Christmas all the time. I decorated, I help plan some dinners and watched lots of Christmas movies. Even though I was not with my family, I managed to find a little Christmas here. It wasn’t so bad. The words for December “Refection & Memories”
Overall this year has been a blessing. This is the first year that I really looked back at my year and man I am so blessed. A lot happened to me this year and it was all good. It was a great year. I hope everyone will be able to reflect on the past year and know the joy that I had.
Happy New Years!

I had so many positive snippets in 2012. Getting a job, a new apartment, seeing Oprah in person are at the top of the list.
