I just registered for St. Patty’s Day Dash & Bash 5k using Race Roster. Join me in this event by registering here – https://raceroster.com/3880?aff=4LEAJ
I am feeling good at this point. This will be my first race for 2015. Although I’ll only be racing myself it still feels good to get back on the fitness kick.
How did I come to the decision to participate in this run. Well, I went out this morning and did my normal 5K.
This is pretty average for me. But I have found in the past that I am more motivated and inspired to go out and workout if I have a goal. So entering events is my motivation.
I searched for an event in my area and this one wasn’t too close, as far as the date and it is right here in the quaint town I live in, which is perfect.
The event will be March 14th and starts at 8am. They claim it is a flat and fast 5K loop. I’ll be the judge of that. 🙂 Participants will get a race bib that has a chip in it for timing. I like timed events because I’m always in competition with myself.
The swag is a Tec shirts, green beer and a medal. I’m always down for beer. I love beer.
There is also a free run for the kids. So this is definitely a family event.
If you live in this area and want more info here it is Saint Patty’s Day Dash and Bash
How do you feel about race events?
I don’t know who the original author of this was, but I had to post it. It is so funny.
Actually, that picture pretty much depicts me and my buddy Tammy. Tammy is the one with the butt chomped off & I’m the one with the brains chopped off. Tammy hates to sit, but we have had to sit a lot on the metro. She likes to be on the go, I guess cause here ass hurts when she sits too much. I don’t know. I do know I don’t have to do any thinking when I’m with her, because she’s very bossy, so I do what I’m told. 🙂 (Wow, that was a long run on sentence wasn’t it?)
Today will be my last day here in DC, but I’m already planning to come back. We saw a lot of stuff.
Thank goodness I took Miguel with me. That’s what I named his coat that he let me use. I packed up my coats in my haste to flee Afghanistan, thinking I was going straight back to sunny Florida. That worked out well, didn’t it? I also only packed 3 T-Shirts and 2 pair of jeans. My new boss Tammy said I had to buy some cloths. I’m just going to ignore her and keep wearing my clothes over again. After all they don’t stink and I didn’t spill anything on them. 🙂
Any who, the main event for yesterday was Madame Trussaus & the Holicost Museum. We had a ton of fun taking pictures with the wax figures. The Holicost exhibit was sad, but a good must see if you head to Washington DC.
By the time we got to Arlington Cemetery it was too late. They were closed. It was OK. The weather was great, the sights were superb and the company was the best. I could not have had a better tour guide.
Have food will travel. Tammy took be to some great places to eat. Gordon Biersch was our choice for lunch. I will say the food had potential to be great, but the service sucked and the food was cold. OH well, There was ice cream and pizza later. Can’t say I didn’t eat well.
So enjoy the pics for yesterday.
Today I will be winding down and getting ready for the next leg of my journey to the house.
You Tong Kissing with Will Smith Lizzy 🙂 🙂 🙂
Off to Atlanta I Goooooo…………………….
DC Lofty Review coming up…..But first…
Some would say home is where you hang your hat and that has been true for many years for me. While working overseas, I was able to go on some fantastic trips and meet some amazing people. Now I’m back in the Good Ole USA. I love being a US citizen. The US is the best country to live in. I mean no disrespect to any other countries. That is just where my heart is.
I started my journey away from that harsh country where people are still pulling wagons and the poor people are still struggling to have some sybolence on an economy a couple of days ago. I wish the best for them. I have made some good life long friends, but I can’t say that I will really miss this place.
I took my last trip to the Kabul airport and I can say see ya suckers to that damn crazy ass security. I only had a couple of hours in Dubai so I stayed in the airport until my last flight. I was actually in Dubai for 7 days last week, but didn’t blog because the internet connection at my hotel was horrible.
I wanted to stop and see some friends on my way home. Of course since I’m unemployed I wanted to do that on the cheap. So I decided to stay at a Hostel & I would like to give DCLofty review which is where I stayed. What is a hostel you say?
That definition courtesy of Google Search. Cheap is just what I was looking for. I booked my room on Booking.com which I love to use. BTW you can view a DCLofty review or two there. I have never stayed in one, but I have lived in a varied amount of different living conditions over the years. So I know how to slum if I had to, which I didn’t. The name of the place is DCLofty in downtown Washington DC.
I actually was able to take a bus and the metro to get there. The desk clerk gave me very good directions to get there. Even with my big bag which I named Steve after a good friend, I was able to get there with no issues. Once I got there I was a bit worried. The place look a little worn, but still not to bad at all. At that time I did not know what type of DCLofty Review I was going to write.
You are asked to take your shoes off at the door, but they will give you slippers for a small fee of $1 if you stay for more than 3 nights. The first room I was put in was an 8 man coed room. But a bed in an all female room became available and so I was moved. This room was better and there was only 4 beds. The bathroom was also right off of this room which was nice. DCLofty Review looking good at this point.
As you can see from the pictures the facilities were not bad at all. In short:
All in all it is a great place to stay if you don’t mind meeting people and saving money. My first Hostel experience was fantastic and I would do it again. End of DCLofty review. 🙂 BTW I did some bad reviews for this property and didn’t understand why. Really this is not suppose to be a 4 star hotel. You do get what you pay for.
I pretty much did nothing, but relax for most of the day. I had the room to myself most of the day. Then my friend TK & hubby came and scooped me up. We went to Washington DC Harbor for Dinner and a walk around. We chatted up a storm and enjoy each others company. I have know TK since I was 18 years old. She is one of my buddies from my first duty station when I was in the US Army stationed in Frankfurt Germany. See is so awesome and still looks the same. I love here dearly.
Here are some more photos of the day for your enjoyment.. 🙂
I will end here, but will be back soon.
Your Marching on the Capital Lizzy 🙂
Have you ever stayed in a hostel before?
If you came to Washington DC, what would be your must see thing?
Yes that’s right I love my Mexicans. But huh?……
You know hand sanitizer really takes on that lava lamp effect if you hold pretty lights behind it. Well I think I was high on the fact that I was on my way home. I rally don’t plan on looking back. It really was time for me to move on. I just was not able to do my best with the resources I had, which makes me sad. OH well…On to the Mexicans.
I’m really gonna miss this Mexican. Miguel don’t worry, I coming to your house when you quit too. 🙂 Miguel is one of my besties that is for sure and boy do I have a lot of friends like that. I am so blessed. I didn’t get pictures of everyone, but I tried. I learn some spanish from Miguel which I have been dying to learn. I’m going to miss eavesdropping on him and his wife. They always spoke spanish so you know I was really trying to learn then. 🙂 Love ya Miguel. I’m so nosey. 🙂
Now that there is how the Mexicans really roll. Angel offered to help me open some boxes of cookies that Teresa from “Can’t Stay Out of the Kitchen” sent. Those cookies went so fast. Loved them T. Check out her blog, she is an amazing cook.
Let me tell you, you can’t beat Corona. I love them. Viva Mexico!
Can you say I Luv, Luv, Luv Mexican food. I think I almost look mexican now. OK, maybe not. OH Well……
As a matter fact my first real vacation was in Mexico with my children. That’s enough with Mexican rant.
Peace Out Y’all!
Your Lurvly Lizzy 🙂
Is anybody else crazy about Mexican life?
